Computing facilities

The Department has a number of public-access computers in the student work room. All teaching areas are covered by ethernet connections or by a wireless network. Many students come to Bristol with their own computer. If you are buying one before or when you arrive, please read our advice on choosing a laptop.

Electronic mail is used extensively for the dissemination of information within the Department as well as outside it, and is available to all students. Our computers form part of a dedicated University-wide network, enabling you to have rapid access to a range of facilities, and you can also link your own computer into the system from your room in Hall of Residence. The departmental web site is regularly updated and provides a valuable source of information about the department and its programmes.

The lecture theatre allows lecturers to make use of a data projector and specimen "visualiser" to enhance their presentations.
