These programmes provide an all-round training in the geosciences which can lead to MSc and PhD opportunities and professional careers in the Earth Sciences. Many students also go into highly successful careers in, for example, business and the media, using their degree as a measure of their adaptability and independence.

You will be taught a range of transferable skills such as written and verbal communication, group and project work, numeracy, computer literacy and analytical skills. You will also be given practical advice about careers, writing of curricula vitae and how to make applications for jobs or research posts.

There are considerable amounts of practical work, including laboratory and field classes, an extended research project and a programme of tutorials with your personal tutor. Innovative learning techniques are used throughout, including teamwork, website design, discussion and debate, and poster and oral presentations.

Our Single Honours degrees in Geology and in Environmental Geoscience (BSc and MSci - with and without study abroad) are accredited under the Geological Society of London's Accreditation Scheme, providing added assurance of the high quality of our teaching.
