Our new website (and a currently developed online collection database) will go live in late spring 2012. For any enquiries or questions please contact our Museum Collection Manager: Claudia Hildebrandt c.hildebrandt@bristol.ac.uk, +44 (0)117 954 5412. |
In the meantime follow us on our Facebook website:
The Geology Museum at The University of Bristol houses over 100,000 specimens, some of international importance others unique to the Bristol area and essential for the understanding of local geology.
The collections have been built up gradually, since 1876 and reflect the history of the School of Earth Sciences and its past and current research and teaching interests. The museum was established and "fully registered" (Registered Museum No. 200) under the Museum and Galleries Commission's Museum Registration Scheme in 2000. We are planning to apply for accreditation under the Arts Councils Museum Accreditation Scheme in 2012/2013.
